There was almost a full house at St Giles’ on Sunday for our tweaked-for-covid Harvest Festival.
Many people commented that the flowers and produce display looked even more beautiful than usual and our thanks must go to all the flower ladies and gardeners who put so much effort in to make the church so beautiful. Most of the displays will still be there if you would like to pop in to the church when it is open on Monday or Tuesday this week 10am – noon. Here’s a 2D impression though!
A verse or two of our favourite harvest hymns were played on the organ, to which we hummed along under our masks. We had a litany of readings from the Bible which mention honey, prayers to thank God for his goodness and Natasha’s sermon encouraged us to dine on the milk and honey of God’s word, giving us strength to share his bounty through kind words and actions, even in difficult times. We managed to bring our offerings of non-perishables up to the altar in a socially distanced procession and it was great to see all the uniformed groups represented in our church family.
With plenty of room to spread out at St Giles’ and all of our covid precautionary measures, we hope everyone felt safe and welcome in their Harvest Home.
